THE MODERATING ROLE OF ASSET UTILIZATION IN THE ESG–FIRM VALUE RELATIONSHIP: EVIDENCE FROM ASSETHEAVY INDUSTRIES LISTED ON THE INDONESIA STOCK EXCHANGE

DARWIS, MEKA - Personal Name; LUBIS, ARIEF WIBISONO - Personal Name;

This study examines the relationship between ESG performance and firm value in assetheavy industries listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), focusing on the
moderating role of asset utilization. Grounded in Stakeholder Theory and ResourceBased Theory, the research applies panel regression to 165 firm-year observations from
36 firms between 2018 and 2023. The findings reveal that ESG performance negatively
affects firm value, while asset utilization (TATO) positively moderates this relationship.
These results suggest that operational efficiency enhances the financial salience of ESG
initiatives in capital-intensive sectors.
