THE CORPORATE STRATEGY OF PT. CMA 2003 - 2005
When discussing shipping industry, one must all the time be aware that the problems facing the shipping industry are often very different from the problems facing any other industry. The shipping industry is perhaps one of the most international of all industries, and at the same time it is one of the industries where the values and the risks involved are the largest. These factors have meant that the rules of shipping industry have content that in many ways differ from the rules one would expect to apply in any other industry.
CCAI is the agency of CCA in Indonesia. CCAI faces many environmental forces that push them to always update their corporate strategy. There has been a good improvement of CCAI from year 1997 to year 2002. There were so many factors involved: external and internal that affected CCAI performance. It is an interesting study point to find-out what kind of corporate strategies were chosen by CCAI during 1997-2002 period and what kind of environmental factors pushed them in making their strategies. It is an interesting study point too to know how CCAI had been affected by CCA as its parent company.
The study found that CCAI is affected much by CCA general strategy. However, in some territory, CCAI can be a determiner in the corporate strategy chosen. This kind of relationships between CCAI and CCA is valid both for 1997-2002 period and 2003-2005 period. The study also found that CCAI must focus to its internal organization problems first before going forward to implement their new growth strategy. The study also found that CCAI must continue their growth strategy options in order to cope with CCAI and CCA target and in order to cope with all forces from the environment.
