IMPACT ANALYSIS OF EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT AND RESILIENCE ON SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURIAL INTENTIONS (CASE STUDY IN YAYASAN CINTA ANAK BANGSA (YCAB) SOCIAL ENTERPRISE)
In recent years, the concept of social entrepreneurship has attracted the interest of governments, academics, and practitioners for its dual nature in creating both economic and social values, in the efforts to solve myriad social issues. In the National Mid-term Development Plan 2015-2019, Government of Indonesia has determined to enhance youth participation in development. This commitment is supported by YCAB Foundation (which stands for “Yayasan Cinta Anak Bangsa” or “Loving the Nation’s Children Foundation”), which has evolved from a non-profit organization to a sustainable social enterprise over the years. YCAB Social Enterprise has targeted to reach 5 million youth by 2020. Based on Ajzen’s Theory of Planned Behavior, it was posited that entrepreneurial behavior is mainly predicted by entrepreneurial intention. Studying the factors behind social entrepreneurial intentions of individuals is consequently considered important to understand and predict social entrepreneurship. The objective of this research is to investigate the impact of employee engagement (vigor, dedication, absorption) and resilience (hardiness and persistence) on social entrepreneurial intentions at an established social enterprise in Indonesia. Data was taken from 136 respondents.
Data analysis is conducted using descriptive statistics and multiple linear regression. Results showed that employee engagement and resilience do predict social entrepreneurial intentions in YCAB Social Enterprise. There are also positive and significant influences of dedication of employee engagement and hardiness and persistence of resilience on social entrepreneurial intentions. The most dominant impact comes from hardiness dimension of resilience.
