Buku mengenai Prospek Ekonomi Indonesia tahun 1988/89 ini merupakan terbitan yang keempat kalinya sejak seminar Prospek Ekonomi dihidupkan kembali pada awal tahun 1985. Masalah kelemahan dalam Neraca Pembayaran Luar Negeri dan kendala dana rupiah untuk membiayai pengeluaran pembangunan Pemerintah sebagai akibat, antara lain, dari perkembangan harga minyak dan gas yang belum mantap, masih tetap merupakan pokok bahasan yang paling banyak mendapatkan perhatian dalam seminar Prospek Ekonomi tahun ini. Sementara itu topik bahasan baru yang disajikan dalam seminar tahun ini, antara lain, meliputi bidang pariwisata, transmigrasi, konstruksi, dan kualitas manusia.
