MODERN POLITICAL ECONOMY: AN INTRODUCTION TO ECONOMICS: INTERNATIONAL EDITION

MCKENZIE, RICHARD B. - Personal Name; TULLOCK, GORDON - Personal Name;

Our aim in writing this book is simply to introduce students to the fascinating and rewarding method of economic inquiry; but we have carried out that purpose in ways different from those used by other books currently available.

We do not include topics such as the history of the labor movement or the oligopolist's kinked demand curve usually found in most texts designed for beginning students. On the other hand, we consider many subjects usually given little or no attention in an economics course. Our discussions of group behavior and politics may appear at first glance to be out of place. However,these topics are juxtaposed with an analysis of the market system and governmental processes in the expectation that the student will acquire a deeper and firmer understanding of the social interaction of individuals. By means of new subject matter and subtle differences in emphasis and format, we make a partial departure from most other introductory economics texts. -From Author to the Instructor
