THE NEW ETHICS: A GUIDED TOUR OF THE TWENTY-FIRST CENTURY MORAL LANDSCAPE
In this book, ethics professor Anita L. Allen examines the new world we find ourselves in and the choices we make as we navigate through it. Drawing from her own experiences as an African-American woman, a wife in a mixed-race marriage, a mother, a scholar, and a teacher, Allen explores the reasons why what we would like to do so often wins out over what we know we ought to do. She reveals unexpected sources of temptation and resources for moral guidance and explains why responsible choice is more crucial now than perhaps at any other time in history. After articulating the problems, she lays out her "Agenda for Better Ethics," showing us specific ways to fight ethical failure, make choices well, and build stronger communities to enrich our lives.
