This book represents the cumulative experience of UNIDO in the methodology and practice of national benefit-cost analysis for industrial project preparation and evaluation.

The aim was to develop a set of guidelines which developing countries could use. The first set of papers were used in national training workshops in Mexico, Ceylon, India and Iran On the basis of practical experience gained in these countries, the work was revised to make it more operational and to reflect better the diversity of the needs of the developing countries.
