A PRACTICAL GUIDE TO DATA BASE DESIGN
Describes how to use entity/relationship diagrams as the basis for deriving a physical design for any type of data base management system as well as for simple file structures.
Uses a process where group representatives and members of the applications development team work together first to identify data requirements for the new system, then to derive access path requirements going against the data, and finally to derive a first-cut data base solution for those access requirements.
Includes examples throughout.
