COUNTRY RISK: ASSESSMENT AND MONITORING
The international debt situation has recently been a major discussion point in the world's financial community as well as in government circles, and the international safety network established by the major central banks, the International Monetary Fund and the Bank for International Settlements has frequently and effectively been activated to deal with various crises. It could, however, be dangerous to assume that such problems can always be solved so smoothly and all international investors and participants in cross-border lending should now be looking for ways of minimising the incidence of these kinds of crisis.
In this book, Dr Krayenbuehl shows that there is a very wide range of factors - economic, legal and political-which influence country risk. He shows how to assess accurately which factors are most important in effecting a change in the rating of a particular country and explains how to judge countries with similar structures using similar criteria.
Country Risk offers invaluable guidance to bankers, executives of multinational corporations and staff in relevant government departments and international agencies on how better to assess and monitor country risk so that excessive lending and unwise investments can be avoided.
