THE IMPACT OF TRANSFORMATIONAL LEADERSHIP ON EMPLOYEE PERFORMANCE: THE MEDIATING ROLES OF EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT AND JOB SATISFACTION IN PAKISTAN’S HOTEL SECTOR
This study investigates the influence of transformative leadership on employee performance within Pakistan's hotel industry, emphasising the mediating effects of employee engagement and work satisfaction. This research examines the significant role of leadership in service-oriented sectors, specifically how transformational leadership behaviors—such as visionary inspiration, personalised concern, and intellectual stimulation—impact employee results. A quantitative study approach was employed, collecting data from 151 Hotel personnel across many organisations in Pakistan. The data were analysed by Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) using AMOS to evaluate direct and indirect correlations among the variables. The findings indicate that transformative leadership markedly improves employee performance, both directly and indirectly, via the mediation influences of employee engagement and work satisfaction. Of the two mediators, employee engagement had a more pronounced mediating impact, indicating that highly engaged individuals are more inclined to perform successfully in the presence of transformative leadership. This study enhances leadership research by presenting evidence from a developing nation and underscores the need of cultivating transformational leadership skills in the Hotel industry. Practical implications encompass the necessity for leadership development programs designed to enhance staff motivation and satisfaction. The results provide significant insights for managers and policymakers aiming to enhance employee outcomes and overall organisational success. Future research should investigate other possible mediators and moderators to further the comprehension of these interactions.
